Leisure, sports and social stories
Hear from people who come to our leisure, sports and social groups to have fun and meet new people.
8 year old Brendon came to one of our youth club taster days. He loves horse riding and making people laugh.
Brendon is a very happy little boy, very mischievous, cheeky and friendly,” says his mum Tonya. “He definitely likes entertaining people and making them laugh, I think that’s one of his biggest achievements. What he likes to do on a daily basis is to make people smile and be happy. Brendon has Down’s Syndrome and autism and he’s also deaf, says Tonya
“He uses a lot of Makaton for signing. He couldn’t speak until the age of 5. He finds a lot of physical things very tiring. So he tends to go at his own pace; he knows what he can do and what he can’t. But if someone else is doing something and he wants to do it, he’ll give it everything to do what they’re doing and achieve his goal.
Elizabeth regularly attends one of our youth clubs, where she can have all the fun she wants in a supported environment. It also gives her mum Amanda some time to herself.
