Minibus driver

Give disabled adults more chance to get involved in fun days out by driving our minibus
Huntingdon, PE29 3RR
3-4 hours per week Monday - Friday daytime, flexible to suit volunteer
Agreed in advance expenses reimbursed

The Papworth Trust Centre in Huntingdon enables disabled people to try new things in a fun and friendly atmosphere, so they develop confidence and new life skills. The centre offers a variety of leisure activities and independent living skills with sessions including arts & crafts, gardening , music, exercise, drama, IT, cookery, work-skills, print and design, literacy and numeracy as well as trips out to go shopping or to the cinema. 

We also offer our clients the opportunity to get involved in days out. This can be to local museums, Cinema’s, cafes, sports centres, wild life parks, shopping centres etc. This allows individuals to build their confidence and socialise with other people.

In order to give our clients the chance to get involved in these fun activities, we are looking for volunteers who will be able to drive them to these places.

Key tasks

  • To drive a minibus to various locations around Cambridgeshire

  • To support and socialise with clients of varying abilities one to one and in small groups

  • Ideally to assist the tutors and support clients participating in the activity you have driven to

Skills and experience needed

  • Experienced driver
  • 25+ years old
  • Honest
  • Good communication skills
  • Friendly and approachable
  • Ideally MIDAS trained drivers but we would be happy to provide training if there was a longer term commitment.
